Assist management with the training of associates and provide input about associate performance for Loss Prevention Manager in the execution of Loss Prevention responsibilities such as protecting company assets through activities in safety, inventory recovery and internal & external theft, monitoring surveillance equipment, and apprehending shoplifting suspects.

o With the assistance of the Store Manager and District Loss Prevention Manager, provides training and coaching to Loss Prevention and store associates regarding operational issues that result in unit losses
o Provides coaching to management team on all Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental programs
o Drives awareness to associates regarding safety-related practices and behaviors and safety related issues
o Coordinates and conducts the Safety Inspection Process on a scheduled basis Ensures the timely and accurate reporting of results
o Educates and motivates store to achieve company and Loss Prevention (LP) goals centered on our Five Play strategy
o Identifies issues that must be escalated to the Store Manager and/or District Loss Prevention Manager and ensures resolution
o Conducts cash register variance investigations and inventory audits
o Monitors security cameras to conduct security checks and observations to deter and prevent theft and make apprehensions where necessary
o Works closely with Store Manager to address shortage control for the unit, both strategy and tactics, supervising associates for shortage control execution
o Pulls reports and conducts periodic assessments of Operations and Loss Prevention (LP) performance in their unit and makes recommendations to Store Manager regarding the same Actively works with Store Manager and store management in the development and implementation of action plans for course corrections
o Ensures the proper operation and repairs of alarm and Closed Circuit Television equipment
o Supervises the detection, investigation and successful conclusion of all internal cases
o Accountable for accurate and timely report writing, record keeping and retention of evidence
o Along with the Store Manager and District Loss Prevention Manager, works with local law enforcement and serves as a liaison between Kmart and the criminal justice community
o Performs supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to: making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting, and terminating; conducting performance appraisals; and coaching and developing associates
o Performs other duties as assigned
o Understanding of Safety and OSHA Requirements
o Understanding of Physical Security Controls (e.g. alarms, key control)
o Knowledge of Store Operating Processes and Shortage Control
o Knowledge of internal/external theft guidelines and processes
o Excellent Communicative Skills (Written & Verbal)
o Strong Analytical and Auditing Skills
o Excellent Report Writing and Computer Skills; Reporting is accurate, complete, concise, well organized, properly formatted (grammatically & structurally)
o Financial Analysis (ability to analyze/diagnose data, identify/quantify opportunities, develop plans to address)
o Closed Circuit Television usage, maintenance and installation
o Conducting Interviews (Internal and External Investigations)
o Ability to use e-mail and attachments, internet/intranet and computer systems to access, input, modify or print information or to execute moderately complex programs or analyses
o Formal training in conducting internal and external theft investigations
o Shoplifting Detection and Detention Expert (Certified and Lead Trainer)
o Successful completion of the SHC Wicklander-Zulawski interviewing and interrogation certification program (post-selection for external candidates)
o Must be 18 years of age or olderEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
