POSITION:
Peer Support Specialist LOCATION:
Bowling Green, KY - this is a Hospital Based position.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Must have and maintain Peer Support Specialist Certification in Kentucky RESPONSIBILITIES AND TRAINING:
Facilitate group and individual sessions as needed.
Assist patients in articulating personal goals for recovery.
Teach and model the value of every individual's personal recovery experience.
Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
Assist patients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy.
Support Stepworks medical model of addiction treatment including the use of medication-assisted treatment when indicated.
Be familiar with alternative treatment strategies (12 Step, Rational Recovery, faith-based initiatives, MAT) and promote the concept that the best model is the model that works best for an individual patient.
Maintain appropriate staff-to-patient boundaries.
A Stepworks staff member should not serve as a 12-step sponsor to a previous or current patient without prior approval from the Clinical Services Director (CSD).
Immediately notify the CSD if a present or past sponsored person becomes a patient.
Meet with all patients on the first appointment date.
Participate in treatment team meetings and assist in developing the treatment plan.
Report schedule change requests and any other administrative concerns to the CSD.
Participate in individual and group supervision for maintenance of certification under the direction of the CSD.
Other duties as required by the CSD.
